DANCING TOWARD UNITY
Solo Expression joins Allentown School District’s Unity Day — a district-wide stand against bullying, told through movement.
Allentown, PA · October 18, 2023
On October 18, 2023, Allentown School District marked Unity Day across its elementary schools — a day built around inclusion, kindness, and standing together against bullying. Solo Expression’s Anthony “Solo” Harris was part of it, bringing dance into the celebration and turning a message about belonging into something students could feel and move to.
The day was documented by The Morning Call in a photo gallery that captured Anthony teaching students — a snapshot of what it looks like when a community lesson becomes a shared, joyful experience.
The Day
A District-Wide Stand Against Bullying
Unity Day arrives each October during National Bullying Prevention Month, and Allentown School District carried the message into elementary schools across the city. The district pairs days like this with the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program — a schoolwide approach used at every grade level to build a safer, more positive climate and stronger peer relationships.
The heart of the message is simple: get to know people who are different from you, and you’ll find more in common than you expected. It’s a lesson that lands harder when kids aren’t just hearing it — they’re living it, together, in the same room.

Where Movement Meets Belonging
Dance has always been Solo Expression’s language for connection. On a day devoted to unity, that language does real work: it gets students moving in sync, laughing together, and paying attention to one another. Movement lowers the walls that words sometimes can’t, and it gives every child — regardless of ability or background — a way to take part.
That’s why days like this matter to Anthony. Teaching a room of elementary students a routine isn’t only about the steps. It’s about showing them that belonging can be practiced, learned, and shared — one count, one movement, one classroom at a time.
